Relationships: My Boyfriend Left Me Drunk At A Party

I have a question to ask; first let me set up the scenario:

Two young couples go on vacation to Mexico for 7 days. The girls are best friends and the guys are their boyfriends. They are having a great time meeting new people, partying, sightseeing, laying on the beach, etc.

On the very last day of their visit, there is a huge beach party for the hotel guests. Everyone is intoxicated, dancing around the bonfire, swimming in the ocean and just enjoying their last day in paradise.

One of the girls, from the couples, gets so drunk that she can’t even stay standing. She repeatedly falls to the floor but she is in good spirits, laughing and dancing the whole time. Her boyfriend suggests that they call it a night since she was clearly out of it; she insists on staying at the party with the other couple. So the boyfriend goes to the hotel room alone and leaves her at this crazy party.drunk-girl

Seconds after the drunk girl’s boyfriend leaves, she is hanging all over a foreign guy who is at this party. She’s dancing with him, touching him, and eventually kisses him. The girl’s best friend finally stops her from going any further.

My question is:

If the drunk girl were to go “all the way” with this foreign guy at the party who’s to blame? And should she be forgiven?

Now it may seem as if there’s a simple answer. But let’s think about this… The boyfriend, who should be looking out for his girlfriend, saw her drunk out of her mind and instead of insisting that she go with him, left her there. And of course, there’s the fact that the girl is grown and should take responsibility for herself and her actions.

Thank goodness her best friend was there otherwise who knows what would have happened.

This brings me to another question:

If your significant other is stupid drunk, would you leave them to fend for themselves, or would you insist they come with you?

Tell me what’s on your mind ladies and gentlemen!

I think both are partially responsible. The girl should act like a lady and know her limit. The boyfriend should be a man and look out for his girlfriend.

Her and her boyfriend should have a serious conversation if she went “all the way” with another guy. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to forgive her given the situation.

I would never leave a significant other nor a friend drunk anywhere!

This is simple. When the boyfriend asked her to go, she did not submit. She decided to do what she wanted to do. He could not force her without causing a scene. Men like to avoid making a scene. She should have listened to him, but she is not receptive to him, at all. If she came with him, she should have been willing to leave with him.

This young lady has chosen to bring whatever comes her way, to herself. She has chosen to be so drunk. She has chosen to not listen to her man. She has chosen to be in the energy of the party. How can he be at fault?

Women who pull these kinds of numbers are really interesting. They complain about men on the one hand and then refuse to surrender to a man and allow a man to protect and serve, on the other…

Too bad.

I agree they’re both responsible. First of all, you don’t go from sober to crazy drunk in one drink. Why didn’t she, her boyfriend or her best friend stop her before she got to that point?

When young women are in their drunken stupor they are not receptive to much of anything except for the feelings that come along with the liquor. In a sober state I think she would have respected and listened to her man.

She has definitely made a lot of wrong choices but everyone needs that someone to be more aggressive and make a scene if necessary to save them from themselves or a potentially dangerous situation (i.e. drunk driving).

Thank you Jujumama for weighing in with that refreshing perspective!

You know how that can be sometimes, most people drink way beyond what they think they can handle. And when you’re at a club/party sometimes your friends can lose track of how much you’ve been drinking. They may not realize how bad off you are until you’re wobbling, throwing up, talking jibberish, etc.

The most important things to me are to maintain your composure, know your limits, and make sure there are good people surrounding you that can be trusted, because you never know what may go down!

Thanks for your comment Leslie :)
